Splash Days Saratoga Springs: 7 Things New Residents Love

Splash Days Saratoga Springs is the city’s biggest annual celebration — held every June, and it tells you more about what this community is actually like than any neighborhood Facebook group ever could. It runs over a long weekend every summer, and it’s the kind of event where you show up not knowing anyone and leave with plans.

Why Splash Days Saratoga Springs Feels Different

What makes Splash Days Saratoga Springs stand out isn’t the carnival or the fireworks — it’s who shows up to put it on. Local businesses line the parade route. Families from the neighborhood march alongside them. You’ll see faces you recognize from around town next to business owners who actually live here and have been part of this community for years.

That’s not something you get everywhere. Saratoga Springs has grown a lot, but it’s still a city where the people running businesses are your neighbors — some of them in neighborhoods like Pelican Bay, right down the street. That connection shows up at Splash Days more than anywhere else.

There’s More to Do Than You’d Expect

The weekend is packed. There’s a Saturday parade and car show, a carnival that runs most of the week, live entertainment, food trucks, and a boutique vendor market that’s worth a walk-through. But two things tend to catch new residents off guard:

The Pirate and Princess Faire is genuinely a highlight — live jousting, a pirate ship to climb, and The Cliffs of Insanity for the adventurous. It sounds a little random until you’re there and your kids refuse to leave.

The Splash Bash is a kids’ water party that kicks things off and explains the name. Saratoga Springs sits right along Utah Lake, and the whole summer vibe of the city leans into that. The Splash Bash is a good preview of that energy.

Family Fun Day Keeps It Affordable — And It Ends With a Movie

Like a lot of Utah County city festivals, Splash Days has a Family Fun Day loaded with free activities. If you have little kids or just don’t want to spend the whole afternoon buying carnival tickets, you can have a full, good day without worrying about the cost.

But the best part of Family Fun Day happens at sundown: an outdoor movie. And it’s not just any movie setup — kids decorate their own box cars and watch the film from inside their creations. The year they played Cars, there was a Lightning McQueen car driven by an actual Saratoga Springs local who takes the role very seriously. My kids lost their minds. It’s the kind of detail that’s hard to explain but makes complete sense once you’ve lived here for five minutes — this city has that spirit.

The Parade Is the Heartbeat of It

If you only do one thing at Splash Days Saratoga Springs, do the parade. Plant yourself on the route Saturday morning and just watch. Local businesses, community groups, families — it all rolls by. You’ll start recognizing names and faces, which is exactly what you want when you’re new somewhere.

Dates and schedules are posted each year on the official Splash Days page on the Saratoga Springs city website. Check there for the current lineup before you go.

One Practical Thing

The carnival runs Wednesday through Saturday, so you have more than one chance to make it. Saturday is the busiest day by far — parade, car show, and peak carnival hours all overlap. Come early on Saturday or plan for a shorter window.
